This online Zoom class, recommended for teens and adults, is geared for people who have never knitted before. They will learn the very basics, such as the knit and purl stitch, garter vs stockinette stitch, increasing and decreasing, changing color and casting on and binding off. Students will come out of the class with a striped scarf and a ribbed hat, as well as how to read patterns and seam up their knitting. In addition, we will have discussions about online resources and fiber communities like ravelry.com. They will also get an overview of different kinds of yarn (different weight, different fiber content) and different kinds of needles (straight vs circular, bamboo vs metal, etc.). Two hours a week for six weeks offers adequate time to cover content and to allow plenty of practice and assistance. For people who catch on quickly, knitting in the round, lace, color-work and cable techniques can also be explored.

A ZOOM account is required to attend class virtually.

This studio style class will offer individual guidance and instruction as students work from photographs, iPads or a Still Life setup using their own mediums and tools (oils, acrylics, pastels... brushes, palette knives, charcoal...). Various aspects of painting and color theory are covered and discussed depending on one’s level or needs. It is an opportunity to develop your skills or pick up where you left off years ago. In a setting like this students learn from each other while being continuously inspired! Before class ends everyone participates in a critique of the works that were done that day. This is for students with intermediate painting skills through Advanced.
